Media Information and Contacts
Life Learning Magazine provides information and inspiration to progressive people around the world about self-directed learning that happens without school and its related testing, grading, curriculum and classroom teaching. When applied to children and young people, this style of education goes under a variety of names, including “unschooling,” ”autonomous learning,” and “natural learning.” We prefer the term “life learning,” which we coined in the 1990s and which became the name of Life Learning Magazine in 2002. It is reportedly the fastest growing segment of the homeschooling movement. However, ”life learning” refers to a philosophy of parenting rather than merely a style of education; some people us the term “radical unschooling” to describe that sort of non-coercive, trust- and respect-based lifestyle. Life learning can also encompass adult education, where is might be described using terms like “autodidacticism,” ”self-education,” or “personalized education.”
